Hvítserkur is a 15 meter (49 ft) high monolith or sea-stack. It looks like an animal of some sort, an elephant or a rhino; or even a dinosaur drinking. It stands around 50 meters (164 ft) offshore in all its glory! There is a great deal of birdlife around Hvítserkur, painting the rock partly white with their guano, and if you are lucky you might see a seal swimming around. You can either see Hvítserkur from above or hike down to it when the beach is not flooded, but be careful – it is really steep!
Parking: A gravel road leads down to Hvítserkur from Ósar hostel which takes you to a parking lot, sometimes it is not accessible during wintertime. From there you’ll need to walk 5 minutes.
