Kolugljúfur is a canyon in the great salmon river “Víðidalur river” in northwest Iceland. It’s about 1 km (0,6 miles) long and up to 25 meters deep (82 ft). Several waterfalls can be found in the gorge, the most impressive one being the majestic Kolufoss. It is stunningly unique because of the flow of the water breaking its way between the rocks. According to legend, the canyon is named after a female troll called Kola who lived near the bridge where you’ll park.
