Stjórnarfoss

Stjórnarfoss is a stunning waterfall that you might have noticed in the safety video onboard the Icelandair planes. It is kind of a hidden gem even though it’s easy to spot from the Ring Road because it’s often overlooked by travelers driving the south coast. This is the perfect place to break out the BBQ and enjoy nature. To get closer to the waterfall, walk to the bridge and follow the river upstream. Although it isn’t a very big waterfall it is certainly one of the more photogenic waterfalls in the southern region with all the surrounding rock formations. Drones are allowed.
